  16. I've spent a bit of time here and am still stuck. Code is another language for me. However, it is obvious you take great care in outlining all the steps to help others. This is by far the most informative site I've stumbled across in my search. I think what I'm looking for is even MORE basic. Blogger is great, but I'm too much of a perfectionist for the basic layouts/widgets. Lol! I suppose I'll have to hire someone to appease my whims. Take care and keep up the most excellent work. I'll check back and try again if I have a "light bulb" moment!

  17. @Kristina: I get what you mean. All the tweaks, especially the ones that involve coding, can be really intimidating at first. But once you start to get the hang of it, you will learn to have fun. And thanks for the positive remarks, appreciate it. Should you need any Blogger related help, feel free to leave a comment in the appropriate post page in this blog, or use the contact form to get in touch with me. Cheers and God bless.

  37. Is there a way to allow people to follow you via the dynamic views?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, there is a way to allow people to follow you in DV, but there's no way to display who are these people. To allow people to follow you, add a link that could allow them to follow your blog. In your case, this link is:
      http://www.blogger.com/follow-blog.g?blogID=7220344310971803707

      Go to Dashboard - Pages - New Page - Web Address - And add this link. It's not the most strategic place, but that's most ideal one we've got.

    2. Did you see the new widget sidebar they released. I think this is the answer to the follower problem. Is there a way to add music to DVs

      Delete
    3. You bet I did. We (the Top Contributors in Blogger Help Forum) get news and updates about important releases before they let it out to the mass public. But this time, they decided to surprise everyone..

      Music in DV, well.. You'd have to add some third party script to embed music players in your blog, and at the moment, there isn't a way to do so. Sorry bout that.

The problem is, the internal links are not working. When clicked, it will direct to "page not found" page. but when the address copy and paste to browser, it works fine. As for the affiliate link, I notice that it works well. I already delete and retype the text but nothing happen. Please advise. Awaiting for your reply. 62. Hi!! I know supposed to use the 'Ask a Question' link but i tried doing it and it says 'You do not have permission to access this content. (#554)' So here are my queries:

    This is my blog id: http://shadesforduskywomen.blogspot.in/
    #1 I want to add an image to the left of the blog name. I dont want a full header(i dont if i'm correct using this term)

    #2 I want to add my Twitter and FB page under contact button in header. I want the twitter and fb link in the pull down menu and on clicking it should open my FB and twitter page in a new tab. Can this be done???

    #3 Right now, my blog title name is not completely visible as you can see, so it possible to increase the height of the header so that all the letters are fully visible?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi Sudhaa,

    1) With the latest code that I've given you here, it is possible to add an image to your left. Do you have the image's link?

    2) You can try adding a link the usual way (Dashboad - Pages - New Page - Web Address) and give it a button-like look by following the tutorial below:
    http://www.southernspeakers.net/2011/12/blogger-dynamic-view-picture-menu.html

    3) I've included a fix for this in the code that I gave here.

    Can u plz help me with a query

    There is a tutorial in some blog,which teaches us how to replace default comments with facebook comments.In the tutorial,they also teach how to change the "number count of deafult comments" to "number of fb comments".The code to display NUMBER of fb comments and not default comments is

    (function(d){
    var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk'; if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}
    js = d.createElement('script'); js.id = id; js.async = true;
    js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1";
    d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(js);
    }(document));

    comments

    screenshot of code:
    http://img.ctrlv.in/50d0677e48e73.jpg

    The above code does not work for dynamic views(this question is only applicable to Sidebar DV coz in sidebar DV in left sidebar it shows the number of comments commented).I know a small tweak is required,but i am failing,will u plz help me sir?

    1. Hi there,

      There isn't anything wrong with the code. The thing is, the comment in Dynamic View templates are kinda embedded deep within the template itself, which runs from Blogger's script, which is hosted at Blogger's end. I'm not sure if it is even possible to replace the comment in DV, I've never seen anyone succeeding so far.

  74. Thank you SO MUCH for all the really useful advice you offer! I've used more than a few of your dynamic view mods and they work great (and make me much less frustrated). I can see you get a lot of thanks, but I just didn't feel right using so much of your work without some kind of acknowledgment. You rock. :)

  76. Hi, my subscription link is not working though added as a gadget. Can you help? Also is there a way to have add comments button on dynamic view? I know you have a tutorial on changing the comments button, but I don't have it to begin with. My blog is here: http://madaskher.blogspot.com/
    As you will see, I have REALLY been using your ideas. Thanks

    1. As Blogger continues to update the contents of the gadgets, it is difficult to keep up with all the changes. Some of the recently supported gadgets will not work on the left hand side. That is the case for your subscription gadget. I think it is better if you could bring it back to the right.

      As for the comment link, it is a recent known bug from Blogger itself, and it is being dealt with as we speak.

  77. Importing Facebook Comments into Blog

    Yoga,

    I know lots of folks have asked you this. Came across this to import Facebook comments into a Dynamic Blog.

    http://www.bloggerplugins.org/2011/09/facebook-comments-for-blogger.html

    However, not going past the FB developer page since I keep getting this message:

    You have specified an App Domain but have not specified a valid integration URL.
    www.$%$%$%$%.com must be derived from one of: Site URL, Mobile Site URL, Canvas URL, Secure Canvas URL, Page Tab URL or Secure Page Tab URL."

    Not sure how I will go pas this early hurdle. As always, turning to the Master for help and guidance!!

    Cheers

My blog url is: http://mozartwouldnotenjoythis.blogspot.co.uk/ You'll definitely notice some of your enhancements there, hahaa! Thanks again :)

    P.S would be interested to see how the above facebook comment plugin works?

    1. Hi Emma,

      I'm afraid the reaction widget is a lost cause for not (Facebook comments as well). Things should get interesting should Blogger decide to support the HTML/Javascript gadget, as it is not possible to do anything to the current templates' source as of now. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

      Nice blog you got there :)

  82. Hi, can you do a tutorial on how to have multiple headers? For example, every time you refresh the page a new header comes up. If that's not possible could you do one so there's a new header for each page. Hope I'm not asking too much, thanks.

    1. Hi Akisame,

      I'm afraid that will be a wee bit too complicated. But assigning a separate header for each page might be possible. I'll have to look into it. I'll give it a try when I have some spare time and get back to you.

      I should have asked this earlier. Were you referring to a dynamic template by any chance?

  83. Hello! I wanted to ask for your help as I have been following your blog for a year and I think your tutorials are great.
    I was using before the Wallbase template for my blog and I loved it but as it was not originally meant for blogger it had some problems, so in the end I have decided to change it and now I'm using dynamic views, however I loved the fact that I had a background that changed each "x" seconds and when refreshing the page. Do you know if there is some way to do this??
    The code used in the wallbase template was something with jquery but as much as I tried I couldn't use it for my actual blog.

    Thanks a lot for your time if you read this. If it's not something you can (or want to) do don't worry at all.

    1. Hi Arturo,

      As shiny as DV templates look, unfortunately, they do come with many limitations. The lack of customisation options is one of them. DV Templates are not known to respond well with javascript or jquery, sadly. I'm afraid there isn't much we can do for now, until Blogger makes the HTML/Javascript gadget available for DV templates.

  85. Thank you SO MUCH for this blog. I just used probably 10 of your tutorials to improve a nonprofit blog I'm helping with that was hopelessly in need of updating. I wish you could see what it looked like before. I wanted to at least change it to dynamic view but there were so many things I didn't like about DV. And now it's all fixed, thanks to you! I can't thank you enough for your easy-to-understand tutorials. I don't know anything about web design or CSS; I was an English major in college. But now I feel like our organization (we raise money to buy lifesaving equipment for the preemies in our local NICU) has a website we can be proud of. Thank you again!

  86. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your wisdom on this blog! I created a Blogger account so I could move my job portfolio online--a requirement for a job I'm applying for. I'm a web designer with reasonable HTML and CSS skills, and very limited JavaScript skills. Thought customizing my blog would be a breeze, but of course there is just enough differences compared to what I do at my current job, plus the pressure and application deadline for applying for a new position elsewhere, that I just wasn't picking it up fast enough. After days of searching I found your blog, which has proven very useful in the first hour alone. Will be bookmarking this blog for sure. THANK YOU! -Jon

  87. Yoga, I am very thankful for all the help that you have provided me and others in the blogger community!!

    I have a problem and I am unable to find a way out, and I am sincerely hoping that you will give me a hand to climb up..

    I am unable to place a "Comment" box in the header Pages, even after trying with the default way to place reader comments in a Page. I even tried the method that you suggested to make a "dedicated comments page", but it didn't work.

    I am using a dynamic view default template with many little tweaks that you have suggested. Waiting very eagerly for your response.

    1. Hi Vishnu,

      The comment feature in Dynamic View static pages was temporarily disabled in the past, probably due to some bug or something. Unfortunately, I've just learnt the news that Blogger is not planning to restore this feature. As of now, the status is, static pages in Dynamic View templates will not have comment boxes.

    I have 2 problems that I didn't see solved here either. One of them is that I can't use HTML/Javascript gadgets. I don't know why, they just don't appear in the gadget-dock.
    The other is that I pasted a picture in the gadget-dock (with text gadget) and it seems bigger than the allowed (or I don't know what the problem is...), so a scrollbar appears near the picture. Is it possible to remove that?
    I mean this:

    1. Your template is probably broken, and as such you might not be able to get to the Edit HTML section ever again. One possible solution is to upload a third party template by going to Dashboard - Template - Backup/restore. But you might wanna backup your template first as it will replace your template. Once your new template is uploaded, try accessing your Edit HTML section again.

    3. This is my theory. You can add up the three ads for Adsense for Contents. In Dynamic View, all your posts are dynamically loaded at once - and this uses up the quota for displaying your ad. There isn't much you can do to change this behaviour.

    1. Hello Felicia,

      There is no option to request access in your private blog - but worry not, I get what you're trying to do. You could add your page as an external page. Go to Dashboard - Layout - Page - Edit - Add External Link. Under 'Page Title', give the title that you want it to show in your menu. The URL should be of the page's.

      Good luck!
